Is it a HD DVD? If it is it wont play in Vista media player unless your computer has a constrictor which very few have.
Sometimes updating the video drivers solves it but it usually will mention your video drivers in the error message. I'd try doing some Windows updates if you haven't already because they help Vista run a lot better and one of the updates may fix it. Some say that having additional DVD playing software can make that happen too.

DRM/Bluetooth comes a calling.
It is not Your Computer anymore. You gave what you paid for to Mirosoft when you agreed to that EULA.
Stop using Microft stuff and use Linux.
Forget Windows Media player, are many more media things available or that you are allowed to write, modify or mess up .
The first thing you need to ask yourself is how does it know that (.this) file is 'illegal' and that one is not.
It is a virus code that reports backs to or phones home to .
But now Commercial AV or Spyware program will aver Poop up and alert you, cause it is in the agreement.
It isn't spyware if you agreed to run it.
