They make the movements of crying, - lung movements like breathing, facial grimaces, etc., but since there is no air in there, so sound comes out. And they do not produce tears. Most newborns don't until they are a month or two old.

I just saw a 3D ultrasound the other day of someone's baby and it was pouting and making crying "faces" but no sound comes out since the baby is floating in liquid. My babies didn't actually cry tears until 4-6 weeks after birth.

No their lungs work for the first time when they are born otherwise they would drown. They may mimic crying like they do with their breathing but that's about it

No crying is a vocalizatoin that requires open air. Since there is no air in the womb (the baby gets it's oxygen from the mom via the placenta and umbilical cord) it cannot cry.

NO as there lungs are not opend and this is done at birth! if they were open the baby would drown in the amnotic fluid. they can scrunch their face up like they are crying

Their lungs don't inflate until they are born. So no. You need air in your lungs to make your voice box vibrate and make noises. Babies can do other things like suck their thumbs, do somersaults and pee in you, lol
