Meile.
I have had a couple of Dyson machines and I have found them to be very fragile.
Things keep breaking off them - usually just as the guarantee has run out.

Hi, definatelly a meile. We used to have a dyson, which was excellent at first, apart from having to carry the thing up and down the stairs! After two years and several new parts it ended up at the tip. I have since spoken to several people who also skipped their dysons. Meile still like new after two years and much lighter! Mr Dyson should have sorted out his quality issues rather than trying to increase profits by switching production to India!

Definitely a Meile. I have not had a Dyson but have heard horror stories but Meile are known to be the best on the market.

Ive had a dyson and it was great - sadly my ex took it when he left :(

But i am looking at a meile as they as lighter and carrying heavy hoovers to clean the stairs is always off putting- I'm sure ive heard that the meile is better generally too

In our house we seem to have the knack for breaking all our hoovers......So, last year we bought a dyson, apparantly you cannot break them....guess what ..it broke down this week.

Wont suck up anymore, I was also sorry after I bourght it because it was so heavy and bulky....

So meile is a really good make and in the previous job I had my domestic staff always used meile and they never broke down. They used them every day for heavy use and they did the job.

I could not afford a meile so I brought an electrolux, so far so good...I shall see how long it lasts.......Good luck and happy hoovering.....xx

Get a Meile, we have a Dyson and it keeps breaking, it is currently held together in places with brown tape. I won't be buying another.

Here's the thing when you buy a particular vacuum. Vacuums don't last forever w/o the proper maintance like any other product. I was forever going through vacuums- the cheapie $100 ones. However, it was annoying. So for Christmas a few yrs. ago I got a Hoover Savvy as a gift and it works GREAT. Since it was a gift I bought the extended 3 yr. warranty for around $100 which covers any/all repairs and some parts. There happens to be a Hoover authorized repair person pretty close to me as well. Soon enough a yr. that I had the vacuum it started to NOT work properly. So, I contacted the warranty dept and took it in. It was an easy fix the vacuum needed a clean/check and a new filter easy enough.. I had to pay for the filter but, I had a practically new vacuum coming home.. My point is no matter what kind of vacuum you decide on it's a really good idea to get the extended warranty OR to take the vacuum in for maintance every 6-8 months or so. To keep it running in tip/top shape. My mother in law and her mother in law both have Kirby's they got as gifts when they got married.. So, one just turned 66 yrs. old and still works very, very well. If my memory is correct they both got their vacuums refurbished as well... They take them in w/o fail to be rebuilt/serviced every other year ! So, good luck in choosing the right vacuum for you.

But a Miele - a dyson destroyed my friends carpet by sucking all the fibres out of it and leaving it bald!

My mum's dyson shattered at the handle when she was putting in the attachment and a plastic shard went 2 inches into her finger, under her nail (ouch) !!
