Seriously..... I know that a lot of people are complaining about George W. Bush and how he doesn't know what he is doing, so what changes would you make to make America a better place to live??????

The very first thing I would do is put in Attorney General who would stringently enforce Immigration laws. He would make it his primary focus, going after all employers who hire Illegals with the full force of the law. And I would take away all Federal funding from any jurisdiction which puts policies in place policies that aid illegals. So if your city becomes a "Sanctuary City",you lose all Federal Funding,if your state gives drivers licences to Illegals the state loses every thin dime of Federal Funding.

The second thing I would do is to end the idiotic, wasteful and fruitless war on drugs. Whether someone uses drugs in the privacy of their own home is irrelevant,if they break any real laws, such as driving under the influence then go after them. But to drop billions on this idiotic drug war, while the country is trillions in debt,is counter productive and in my own opinion unconstitutional.

The third thing I would do is cut Federal Spending down to the basic essentials that the government is required to do,none of the wasteful spending of billions on thousands of pet projects that all the Congressmen use to garner votes. If I have to shut down the government for awhile to get it done,so be it.

I would find a way to get our troops out of Iraq, but it would be given much more thought and far less misinformation than put them there. Some of our troops would have to remain for a while until the Iraqis got their **** together or the U.N. would send in Peace Keeping troops. I would cease the tax cuts for the richest in the U.S. I would take 20% of that tax cut and give it to the middle class. They are the ones that have suffered most in the last 7 years. I would take 10 % of that tax cut and tell congress that this is the budget for the border with Mexico. What kind of ways can you help the American people with it. I would take the remaining 70% and use it as an incentive for car companies to make autos that are free from fossil fuels and affordable to everyone. I would also use these remaining funds to encourage companies to cease outsourcing by giving a modest tax refund to the companies that dont outsource and replace these funds by penalty taxing the companies that do. I realize that some of what I am saying would require new legislation , but seriously if we dont want to be speaking Chinese here as our first language in 40 years we have to fix this trade deficit pretty quick. The money that would be saved from leaving Iraq could help to start a new era in healthcare for this country. I know in other counties socialized medicine seems to leave alot to be desired but I think with as many great minds as we have here in the US we can do better. I would also outlaw Lobbyists. They and the special interests they represent are bringing about the ruin of this nation. We need leaders that are immune to the allure of big money and are instead wanting this Nation to be great again. Even with all the skulls historians seem to dig out of the closets of the Founding Fathers, the men that founded this country were fighting against taxation without representation. If a Congressman or Senator is pandering to a lobbyist because of the kickbacks in the guise of pork added to a bill. Then taxation without representation is what we are getting. I wold put a stop to all of that. Government of the people, by the people , for the people. That is what the Constitution promises us and we should not expect any less. Not for some people by some people, which is what we have received lately. I would also try to implement a program that would give some kind of job training to the Homeless. Something that would give them a job and serve a purpose for the good of the country. I seriously believe if the people of this Country were making a good living and were able to buy more quality made American merchandise they wouldnt miss and wouldnt mind paying a little extra for the goods they buy. They would just see it as reinvesting in their country. There are other things I would do, but I'll never be president and so I'll just quit here.

If we were still in Iraq I would change the rules of engagement.

They would be you see a person with a weapon shoot first ask questions later. Then after the war was won without the democrats on board, I would use executive orders to close the borders and stop all medical, education, and welfare to any and all illegals.

Then put the national guard on the north and south border with orders shoot to wound. Then pardon the 2 border officers that were arrested for protecting this country. Give them 3 million each and a medal for their service.

Then let the world know we are not available to help with their problems for a while ans we will be rebuilding our infer structure.

Give the states (with over site) money to rebuild bridges roads, and all the airports, and air traffic control.

Lets make this country what it once was, The country everyone envied. And the best America can be.

Give the power back to the people. Eliminate any and all lobbyists.

And let the public know who in both houses voted against any and all projects.

Them make permanent tax cuts. If congress does not go along, another executive order will be given.

Give car manufacturers incentives to have a non gasoline vehicle in 3 years that is affordable to the public, If they do not come up with one they lose any and all tax incentives. If they move out of the country to avoid those taxes make their product taxes 3 times the rate to come into this country.

Drill for oil in this country. Gas is not the only product that comes from oil (plastics etc come from oil)
Then rebuild the military.
Lets worry about AMERICA for a change, then the rest of the world.

i would go back to following the constitution and cut the government about in half if I had the power. Let people keep more of their hard earned money and get government out of peoples personal lives. Let the states run education let the money for education be gathered by states and not send it to a big government bureaucracy that waste most of it on people who are overlookikng education rather then where it belongs for the kids and teachers. I would have it so politicians only worked half the year governing and had to have a real job the other half of the year so they would stay in touch with the reality we know. So bottom line is kill the monster (big government) that we have let politicians create for their own greed and lust for power and I'm talking both main parties. And once again let the people run the country and the government not the other way around. And of course keep a strong military. The biggest burden government has is and should have is to protect us and our freedoms from those who would take them away. Instead of government taking them away. I could go on and on but I think you can see where I'm comming from.

No Name doesn't know anything about Presidential powers, or he would not have made the senseless comment posted above, and really did not answer the question. Just an anti-war rant.

I'll have to paint in broad strokes here, and just hit the high points.

We would END this war in Iran, by prosecuting it to the extent of our ability, demand that the Iraqi's step up, because they will have to fend for themselves soon, then get out as soon as it was strategically feasible. (NO matter what you think about why we are there, we ARE there, and can't just up and leave. That would be stupider than going to begin with.)

The economy is in better shape than when Bush took office, other than the mortgage industry, and that's just a blip due to less than ethical lenders, and buyers who were stupid enough to get taken in on financing that they could not afford. Discounting the huge deficit we have for war spending, that debt would need to be retired asap.

Send the illegals packing, and secure our borders. Push for legislation that would eliminate the whole "anchor baby" issue, and pound those who hire illegals into submission through fines so steep, and enforcement so stringent that it took the incentive for hiring them away, thus eliminating the lure for them to be here, as well as cut off the free social services available to someone who can't prove their legal residency.

Develop environmentally sound policy that would encourage and reward solutions that would make us independent from others for our energy needs. Won't happen overnight, but we have to start somewhere.

Make it absolutely clear to every member of Congress that any legislation that has a hint of the smell of pork was a waste of time, and would be vetoed as soon as it hit my desk.

The above reasons are why I would NEVER even be elected as assistant to the dog catcher, much less President.

Why worry, we'll have a Queen by 2008, I bet. Then we won't need a President. It's funny, Queens are surrounded by an unbelievable cocoon of wealth and privilege, but aren't really worth much in the real world. Hmmmmmm...

I would stop subsidizing companies that outsource jobs; that doesn't make any sense, they are already saving money. I would veto every bill with pork in it no matter the purpose of the bill; that would force Congress to override or take all of the pork out. Bush didn't start vetoing bills until the Democrats took over both houses of Congress although they are trying to use a pay-as-you-go system. He passed everything the Republicans sent his way allowing the U.S. to have the largest budget deficit in American history. I would also tell the European nations that they need to do their part in fighting terrorists or we're going to leave them hanging when they're attacked. I would also end corporate welfare and use that money to put more border patrol on our borders. We could also protect our borders with the taxpayer dollars that pay for the education, welfare, and medical care of illegal immigrants. I would also charge any company that knowingly hires illegal immigrants with treason. I would also fight to put an end to Congress dipping into the Social Security trust fund. I would only provide health insurance for catastrophic cases because private insurance companies are not covering those and I would only provide regular health insurance to those who can't get coverage or to those who cannot afford coverage.

Initiate a Constitutional Amendment to reverse Santa Clara County vs Union Pacific Railroad. This is the SCOTUS decision in which corporations were declared to be persons with the same rights and protections as natural persons.

Initiate a Constitutional Amendment clarifying and codifying the principle that government may not interfere in the private activities of consenting adults UNLESS the activity infringes on the rights of others.

Pardon all persons in prison who are incarcerated SOLELY for posession of small amounts of illegal substances and who have no recent history of violent crime.

Un-deregulate TV & radio.

Stop 'outsourcing' military functions. The Army (or CCC) used to peel its own potatoes and drive its own trucks. With the need for so much unskilled labor, the Army absorbed those persons who need a highly structured environment to function, people who now end up homeless. After 20 years of service these people had a pension and health care for life -- but they EARNED it.

Stop pretending that what are obviously family passenger vehicles are work trucks.

Begin a transition to a transportation system based on mass transit and long distance rail, instead of the current system based on private auto and airplanes.

Extend personal responsibility to high-ranking executives, board members, and major stockholders of corporations. Seize their PERSONAL assets to reimburse the victims of corporate crime.

Reform our taxation system so that less of the burden falls on working families. Require businesses that send a job overseas "make up" the drain this creates on our public funds (tax dollars), both the cost of the increased social services needed by "downsized" workers and thier families AND the tax revenues that are lost because this (unemployed) worker now pays less taxes into our public funds.
