i just sold my yamaha raptor 660 ATV, it's a very powerful vehicle, but i bet you know that... it's not an automatic, the gears shift just like motorcycle gears, with klutch and everything...
i'm a grade A driver on this ATV, very fast, have it go on 2 wheels (side or back), plus i should mention, here in lebanon, atvs are considered as cars, so i would go on the freeway on that thing, and all over the place, it's perfectly legal...
now i saw this beauuuutiful green kawazaki zx-9r.. totally took my breath away... my question is.. would i be able to handle it???
i've driven a ride bike before, a steed 600 and an intruder 1400, but they're too different i guess... plus it was a long long time ago, and it was just for a drive around the block..
i know this bike is not something a female should be driving, but do you think i have a shot? i would so love to get it for x-mas.. i would appreciate any advice i can get, thank you.

Patience and caution are ALWAYS required on a street bike.
A ZX-9R is a very powerful motorcycle and the power to weight characteristics are completely different than a four-wheeler.
Having said that, if you are able to learn the the skills necessary to operate a Raptor safely then you should have little trouble learning to ride a powerful street bike. If you've rode your Raptor legally on the street then you should have the situational awareness required to ride the bike on the street.
Just don't let your ego ride the motorcycle, leave it at home parked on a shelf!!
ONE moment of impatience or indecision can change your life forever, or end it!
By the way, two of my three children also ride. And one of them is a girl!

While you may have the gear changing down, an ATV stands up on its own - it's not going to need the same balancing skills you'll need with a sport bike that's making 125 hp or more (and has equally touchy brakes). While you can wheelie an ATV, this bike is going to be easier to do that by accident, not to mention it's pretty easy to dump it by grabbing too much brake in a corner, and is just all around one that can immediately do exactly what you accidentally tell it to do. I'd start off with a smaller sport bike like a 500 cc one.

A ZX-9 is a lot faster (acceleration, top speed, steering) than any ATV. If it would be your first streetbike you should definitely get something smaller to learn on. I don't know what other bikes are available in Lebanon but this one's a lot to handle for a begginer regardless of your skills on an ATV. I know there are cultural differences between here (Canada) and there, but being a female should have nothing to do with what you should or shouldn't be riding. Have fun.

I would never ever ever suggest this as a beginner bike due to the power on tap could get you into trouble REALLY FAST! But if you have your heart set on it and you can remember to always keep your brain and your throttle hand hard wired together then... why not?? A 500 or 600 would be a better choice and lighter also. The power to weight ratio is much better then the Raptor and since you only have two wheels to start with try keeping them both on the ground !

properly, for my section, i think of a bike is a huge investment as long as you're keen to place the attempt and time into the interest. i'm purely sixteen, yet i've got been using them because i become 4. and that i nevertheless have lots to be taught. i might advise, in case you're nevertheless in contact, commencing off with an Enduro. somewhat its a highway-felony airborne dirt and dirt-bike. per risk a TS125? Then pass your way as much as some thing like a Ducati or Kawasaki. Then in case you're into greater long-term journeys, a Harley Fatboy or highway pick the flow. yet endure in innovations, if some thing have been to take place in case you're on the bike, the worst achievable issue you need to do is be afraid to journey returned. wish I helped! The only way you would be able to handle it is if you put away the impulse to ride it like you do that four-wheeler.
You have a shot, if you control yourself.
Being female has nothing to do with it.

, .Being an old biker and retired ,
handling bikes has been my life, two near accidents, but nothing serious. last year my wife and I were on a Gypsy tour with 25 others on the rout 66 in America, (a trip all bikers must take some day ) booting IT through a long open valley we were hit by a 85 year old lady in a pickup truck that was half blind four of the group including myself were injured quit badly, i have not recovered in 9 months, my spine had been ruptured at the hip, i am now in a wheel chair. all this to tell you when your young you don't believe this crap could ever happen to you.
then when you get older and far more experienced you still believe it.
just remember it has nothing to do with your ability or the quality of your ride, but some stupid inconsiderate idiot can ruin your life forever, keep your head up, i would suggest you look at the number of deaths with those crazy four wheelers,
number one problem with them is no roll bar. go put a dress on the world is full of girls doing stupid things, if your parents allow you to drive one with your attitude, i would have you taken away and given to a bunch of chimpanzees at least they would try and protect you from yourself.

quick66, got it right! go with a 500 or 600cc crotch rocket, almost as fast as the 900-1000cc, but the 600cc bikes are much lighter and easier to handle, plus they are much less expensive to maintain and insure
