im guessing your in highschool , sophmore , junior year? because thats when allot of people read the book. I like it allot , I hated it back then because it was a boring book..with words and no pictures , but pick it up again 4 5 years from now you might really enjoy it , I liked it allot the second time.

All books that are classics are loved by some and hated by others. It just so happens that when something has been given the title of classic for so long, it's hard to try and erase it because people don't want to mess with tradition

i think it was because the story was somewhat controversial?
human nature and all that jazz. Don't the groups of boys begin killing eachother off? And resort to somewhat archaic and 'uncivilized' behaviour? And like 'tribal warfare'?
i read the book a long time ago. it was okay, but certain parts were a little rough.
I'd have to re-read it again to remember all of the plot.
I don't think it was a favourite of mine.

Because it is a book that intelligent, educated people would be expected to have read.

Just because you don't like a book doesn't mean it's any less of a classic. That book is fab!

if it's rated classic, then there must be something 'exceptional' on the story... as only the scholars can appreciate... haven't read nor heard about the title yet but since you said it's so bad, i wouldn't bother looking and spending time reading it either.

I think older people seem to find it interesting. I mean old people 55 and above. I'm 62.
