yes u can conceive with ireguler periods, but if you are having 2 periods a year try going to a different dr to get check up, because that can lead up to cervical cancer, I to have ireguler cycles, and my dr told me the same thing, until I find a gyno who diagnois me with pcos, I am currently taking metformin and so far my cycles are reguler

Are you meaning that you have one or two periods in a year? If so, you need to find a different doctor, because that is NOT normal. Find a doctor that will help you try to regulate your periods. There are drugs out there that can be prescribed to encourage menstruation. If you only have one or two periods a year, it may prove difficult to get pregnant. If you plan on getting pregnant, it would be easier to correct a hormonal imbalance if it does exist. If you're saying that you have one or two irregular cycles in a year though, I would agree with the doc. Sometimes irregularities just happen. They can be caused by stress or almost anything. If you have a regular cycle more often than you don't, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good Luck!
Get a second doctor's opinion just to be sure!
