There is nowhere in the bible where it says "the sun goes around the Earth," but the Bible definitively states that the Earth is at rest and unmoving.
Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.
Psalm 104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
1 Chronicles 16:30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
There are many, many further verses that discuss the "foundations" and "pillars" of the Earth, as if the Earth needed to be fixed in place with them.
Thus church doctrine declared, with biblical support, that the Earth was fixed and unmoving.
This is why, when forced by the church under threat of torture to recant his Sun-centered philosophy, as he signed the confession, Galileo is said to have muttered, "And yet it moves."
In addition to stating that the Earth is stationary, the bible claims the Sun moves:
Psalm 19:4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
When Joshua commands the Sun to stand still, it's the sun that has to stop, not the Earth:
Joshua 10:12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
In the following verse, God commands the Sun to stop (not the Earth) in order to prevent a sunrise:
Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. 7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Reading the other answers here, It's lovely to see how Christians don't actually know what's in their own bible, and can so easily cast off "wrong ideas" as ideas only of the established church, and not ideas that are actually in their own holy book. Interesting psychological phenomenon.

No. Many would have you believe that, for some reason. You read regularly in astronomy and science books about sunrise, sunset, the motion of the stars in the sky, but everyone accepts that as a simple convention describing what you see as a result of Earth's motion. For some reason, similar phrases cropping up in the Bible are taken by some to mean that the Bible is saying the Sun and stars ACTUALLY revolve around the Earth. It's an absurd case of reading into a text something that really isn't there.
And to Earl D, yes, plants grow in dark regions, but they are not photosynthetic. You categorically DO need sunlight for photosynthetic plants, which was the point being made. Mushrooms are not plants, they are fungi. Lichens may not face the sun directly but they still get plenty of light for photosynthesis thanks to scattering in the atmosphere. Experimentally it has been shown that photosynthesis does not require anything like full sunlight to operate at maximum rate. I suggest you read some science text yourself before deriding others.
And Pluto was indeed considered a planet, until scientifically it was shown that it was just one of a family of similar bodies and was reclassified. That's the difference between science and people who insist on the Bible being the ultimate truth. Science develops as new discoveries and techniques come about. A science text written a century ago can be understood to be what was thought to be right at the time but which was subsequently proved flawed or simply wrong. Those who take the Bible over everything dismiss centuries of development and discovery in a desperate attempt to maintain their conviction that a book written several centuries ago is still right despite reality saying otherwise in some cases.

No, the Bible does not say "the sun revolves around the earth". Some "experts" who think of themselves as wise men try to tell you this - you to make the Bible incredible.
Note: Astronomers of today's age talk about "Sunrise" and "Sunset" - even while they know that the observable sunset and sunrise is a result of the earth's rotation. Those expressions are accepted popular and scientific terms. Only when the Bible uses them, some people have the idea that this is wrong teaching.
It's not fair and it's not honest - it's outright dumb.

No matter who you talk to, you will always get different answers. People can spin it any way they want. For example, I once asked a couple different Christians why, according to the Bible, the sun was created AFTER photosynthetic plants. I got all kinds of crazy responses but no one answer was alike. So to answer your question, who knows what the Bible is really saying. Another reason why I think people who follow it are scary.

The bible never states that no. It's just that they believed the Earth must be the center, since it was God's major creation.

Why do people think you need sunlight for plants. Plants grown on the ocean floor 5 miles down. It's documented.
Leitchen grows on the NORTH SIDE away from the sun.
Mushrooms grow in caves.
People need to read a science book.
Science books have just as much fantasy as the Bible, only they have more respect among some people.
Pluto was once considered, scientifically, to be a planet you know! There's a book from Dr. Fred Hoyle that says so! It also says the Universe is in Steady State.

No, this was part of the Catholic Church belief, a church tainted with pagan ideals. Who do we worship, a priest, or an immortal? I take with a grain of salt even what the deciples were quoted. Only Christ can you be guaranteed to always trust.
