No it will not. If you look at the history of human, cultural, governmental evolution you will know that eventually democracy will triumph. Look at China now, it is a communist nation but the young generations want democracy and sooner or later the old folks in government are going to fade away and a new generation of democracy will emerge. Look at nearly all the countries of the world. In the beginning of recorded history they began with kings and emperors. Then they all went on to Theocratic, Kleptocratic, and Communist states. Now most have representative governments with a handful of still communist and dictators. But eventually those will fade away. The problem we have to day is democratic government like ours that have lost respect for democracy. In 1953 our government overthrew the democratic government of Iran and installed the brute dictatorship of the Shah. In 1973 our government killed the oldest democracy in South America, the government of Chile, and installed a dicatorship, and so on with other countries. Communism is a relic of the past that still lingers today and will eventually be replaced.

Well to those who think Hilary Clinton's a Communist then I'm sorry to inform you that the whole world is Communist and pretty successful including some US states.
To those that know what Communism actually means, the answer is no, it has a tendency to get corrupted because it holds to much central power and doesn't help the worlds big corporations, it's these institutions that run the world, they pay the politicians who run the control, welfare and military wings of big capitalism.

Depends on what you mean by "prosper". I guess you can say that the poor folks in Cuba, North Korea, Myanmar, China and other communist countries "prosper" if by that you mean living like dogs, constantly under government supervision and scrutiny with no civil rights to speak of.

Elements of communist ideology will prosper mixed with elements of market economic ideologies, as we have seen from past examples. You can say that a 100% pure Marxist Leninist Nation has never existed, but the elements of it have existed in some form or another.
For example, during the 30s in the United States, Socialist-Communist demonstrations lead to the creation of the National Social Security System.
The Soviet Union was one of the greatest social infrastructure projects ever known to man. A huge land mass in which some areas were just primitive settlements(like in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan) were transformed into industrial cities with sewers, hospitals, schools, running water, large concrete apartments to protect people from the harsh winters, roads, and a rail system connecting Europe and Asia.
Consider China, a place with over a billion people, and compare it with the United States at 300,000 million. Both countries have their forms of poverty, but yet China with so many people is able to have economic success due to it's mix of a Communist Political system and a market economic system. The United States on the other hand has allowed the dollar to devalue to record lows.
I think you can easily put down countries like Cuba or China for Human Rights issues, but let me remind you, it wasn't too long ago that Malcom X and Dr. King were fighting for human rights in the United States. At least in Cuba you would never be called the "N" word because the color of your skin.
According to the United Nations, Cuba has a higher standard of health care than the United States, not to mention it is free for all of its citizens. Another great element of Communism that has been copied in England and Canada...
Lastly, I will end with the issue of "freedoms". People claim that in communist countries you don't have freedom of speech, the truth is you do, but you have to be decent and respectful. That means you shouldn't use bad words, disrespect your elders, or insult/slander people in a respectable office. You can say "I don't like the government". That's okay, but you can't be a jerk and hold signs up in the middle of rush hour traffic, that is just a public safety hazard. Even in capitalist countries like Thailand, it is the law to show respect in public, decency, so you can't insult the King by printing profane or indecent things about the King, but you can simply say you don't like him. So it is not a matter of freedom of speech, it is just a matter of allowing people to be public safety hazards and ill mannered, or to control that.... Something that EVERY state of the union SHOULD do, is to control INDECENT demonstrations like the Maniac Kansas Church group that protests at soldiers' funerals. What good is freedom of speech if it is used in a disrespectful and indecent way? What ever happened to intelligent demonstrations like those that Dr. King led?

As long as the oil lasts so they can prop up their economy it'll look good on paper but the minute they have to deal in the real world it's all over.
Russia managed to pillage enough to stay up 50 years then all at once it was all over.
