You may be abel to do it by useing a memory stick, just plug the memory stick into a usb port and send your data to that.

The only way I can think of doing it is by using an online storage site. You simply upload your files and when you are done reformatting you can go back and retrieve them. XDrive is around $10 a month for 50Gigs. the only thing is that you have to have a broadband connection or it will take forever. Heck, even with a good connection upload will still take a long time.

Hare Krsna !!!

Instead of formatting the hard drive, how about a trial of repairing the existing OS, so that your existing files are not hampered with.

Hope this might prove to be of help for you in thinking something bigger

The simplest way:
Connect ur computer with another using LAN connection. Transfer all the data u wanna back up. Format ur hard disk and get that data back!!!
The advantage is that u can back up very large data in minutes.

defrag your drive then see how much unused space you got

using xp and the xp help files create a partition and move your files in there.

the partion should be no bigger than the free space but if possible make it half the disk. call it D drive

when you format c drive load all your programs in c drive
move my documents to D drive
