It depends. What do you mean by "mentally unstable"? If you are puny, then he might be dangerous because he is brawny, but this really falls back on what you mean by "mentally unstable." And if you are stupid, then avoid him like the plague because it is brains that makes a person downright dangerous for stupid people; stupid people, of course, routinely spare their own egos by dismissing smart people as being "mentally unstable."

Depends how much you act like a victim. If he sees that you have some balls, then he won't try anything. If you're a wimp and you pissed him off for any reason, than you better run.

It depends on the mental stability of that person.
if he/her looks fine and does everything that he/her was suppose to do well, basically he/her should do fine.
Having something like that requires counselling, and lots of encouragement from his/her family members in order to recover.
