"...maybe marriage would not be so bad..."
----This certainly depends upon one's own opinions, beliefs, desires, etc...

Unfortunately, in many countries, people DON'T have the right to have more than one spouse. To have a right is to be in keeping with the law, morality, and justice. And, sadly, polygamy doesn't "fit the bill" in several societies. It's illegal and viewed as immoral and unjust and, therefore, not a right. I disagree with this, as I believe that people should have the right to do as they please so long as their choices do not interfere with the abilities of others to live at peace and free from harm. In my opinion, the arguments against polygamy don't "hold water". I've heard it said that it promotes infidelity. This makes no sense. Just as people are capable of remaining loyal to one person, they can be loyal to more than one person. Likewise, I've heard it argued that polygamy increases the spread of STDs. This doesn't make any sense either. Polygamy isn't the equivalent of promiscuity. Some folks claim that it has a harmful affect upon the children of such families. Where is the evidence to prove such a claim? There is absolutely no logical reason for not permitting individuals to take more than one spouse. People need to open their hearts and minds and stop expecting others to live according to their values rather than their own.
