I have aired it out, opened all my windows, sprayed room spray and run all my fans, vents etc all evening, but it still smells like that horrid burnt popcorn smell...anyone have any idea how to remove the smoke smell short of repainting, recarpeting? LOL? Any ideas?

Yep, first thing I did was get rid of the burnt popcorn, and took it down to the trash immediately. Excellent tips! Thanks everyone!

Lemons, oranges, and cloves. Cut them up and put them in the largest boiler you have. Simmer them for hours. Your apartment will smell like Christmas (I know, it's a little ahead of time, but it will work). The lemons and oranges are citrus and will take away burned smells. The cloves will mask burned smells. Use the whole bottle of cloves in the water with the lemons and oranges. Slice the lemons and oranges about 1/4" inches across and then put them in the pot (or pots) of slowly boiling water. Do not leave them unattended. You can add grapefruit, if you like the smell of grapefruit. If you don't like the smell of grapefruit, then don't add it, but the more citrus you have, the better you will get rid of the burned smell in your apartment. Hope this helps you. (Simmer for hours..about 6 at the least! Keep adding water as you need it so the pot won't burn down.)

You don't mention as to whether or not you burnt it in your microwave. I once accidently started a fire in mine by mis-hitting the buttons. The stench was terrible! However, it required removing the cover over my microwave fan and giving it a through cleaning inside out, as the odor and smoke damage was the culprit for smelling up the house. I cleaned it thoroughly and opened up some windows for a bit. By the next day the smell was less, then less a day or two later. Finally gone. Make sure you don't have any left over smokey oil stain in your microwave. It holds the odor.
Good luck!

If you can buy them, get some citrus fruits, peel them, and either boil the skins (if you have an electric range or microwave) or put the peelings right on the burners (gas) and wait. Don't leave them unattended, but that should help. Maybe vacuum your carpets with pure baking soda or CarpetFresh, even if they don't need it.

as a results of fact each and every of the smells intertwine while they prepare dinner and scent solid. this is not stressful to make nutrition scent solid. this is greater durable to make nutrition style solid. my buddies are complete chinese language i think doubt they got here from u . s . yet their house is a entire pig sty. theirs crap they carry about abode from artwork throughout their front backyard and back backyard and this is all broken issues like tables, refrigerator, washing machines,etc.. yet now and back while they're cooking it smells incredibly solid. yet i fantastically doubt it tastes that solid. why? in simple terms walk infront of their door step and you will understand why theirs craps everywhere alongside with lifeless flora/animals decaying like fish. Im specific they do no longer shop at a real food market the two however the interior sight china city and all human beings in my state knows the china city isn;t very solid for groceries as this is been widespread to hold rats and this is not even that tasty. that being stated do no longer enable the smells fool you.

is the burnt popcorn still in the apartment? if it is, this could be why it still hangs around. take it out. it will go away, keep the windows open, from the top, and it will begin to dissapate.

Besides opening windows and airing the place out, try some Glade scented candles. They work well.
