I have been to Egypt many times but always went to Sharm and i went to Cairo last week for 3 days. I stayed in the Giza area and the apartment i stayed in was in an area that was not very well developed the roads were not paved and there were sheep on the roof and cows outside eating and it was dirty and dusty where as when i went for the night on the Nile the area there was cleaner and nicer much more developed.

i wouldn't say it is relaxing in Cairo its the city that never sleeps. Driving there is really an experience there seems to be no rules apart from get to your destination. A few of my Egyptian friends don't like Cairo and that is where they grew up but now work in Sharm and my Boyfriends brother asked if i liked Cairo and i said yes but could never live there and he was shocked that i liked Cairo.

Cairo is alot different to what i expected you really get a feel for Egyptian life and its really nice experience it and i would definitely go again.

Sorry i can't compare it to Dubai as i have never been there.

Cairo is a city that never sleeps, and in some places it is very dirty - but if you are wanting to explore, there is masses to do. The Pyramids are a must also the Pharaonic village, the Citadel, the markets - you can also get day flights to Abu-Simbel, Aswan and Luxor no visit to Egypt is complete without visiting the Valley of the Kings and Queens. Don't drink the water always drink bottled. Leave Dubai for shopping.

Personally I lived there for 6 months, and now I have real bad asthma for the rest of my life! Besides that, Cairo is busy, very busy, people are nice, but I breathed better in Alex. Cheers!

Dubai has much higher standards of living than Cairo. Dubai has one of the highest life expectancy rates of Asia, even the world. Cairo is still developing and has lots of poverty (spent my whole summer there) it is much more conservative, with most women wearing hijab...and driving is very reckless with lots of wrecks occurring. It's actually quite similar to many scenes in India. Sad to know that such a once great thriving civilization is now plagued with poverty and lacking infrastructure.

ok,
some ppl here overreacting...
Cairo is crowded this is what you can describe it ..
but it is a modern city with a sleepless life.
it is an experience you should pass by..
if you want to live in Egypt i will suggest to live in any city by the sea "Mediterranean sea or red sea" like Alexandria or Sharm elshak
Cheers!
