"Paradise City" is a song written by Guns N' Roses. It really isn't a place, so to speak. Maybe if U had an Appetite for Destruction and listened to the song backwards U could get "there."
The famed chorus, "Take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty", is thought to be a reference to heroin, though in an appearance on the BBC's "Never Mind The Buzzcocks" Slash says the original line was "where the girls are fat and they've got big titties." Others thought it to be about Los Angeles and its corruption at the time of the album/song's release (1987/88). Some believe the song to be written about Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin's hometown of Lafayette, Indiana, and the nearby Purdue University campus. During a 1998 interview, Rose told Hit Parader Magazine that, "the verses are more about being in the jungle; the chorus is like being back in the Midwest or somewhere."
So there U have it. Take your pick & head on out to Paradise City ... where the grass is green and the girls are pretty ... or ... to where the girls are fat & they've got big titties. Enjoy!
