A molecule is two or more atoms bonded together.

A molecule does not have to be a compound. For example, oxygen gas is a molecule made of two atoms of oxygen bonded together. It's not a compound because both of the atoms are oxygen ... they're the same element.

A molecule can be a compound. Example, water is a molecule that is made of two hydrogens and one oxygen. It's called a compound because there are different kinds of elements in the molecule.
