Do it this way: 3n x ( 4n² - 3n - 1) and multiply each term out, and you get 12n³ - 9n² - 3n. As how to show the actual work, I will leave you to that.

The keyboard notation to write "4n to the power of 2" would be 4n^2.

As for the rest, I think you'll have to clarify your question.

(added later: I did not want to be rude, your question did not originally say you wanted to multiply those two lines. I really really did not know, and your question really, really, was not clear. xxtraswe is right. your question originally was very poorly stated.Maybe it was written like that in your text book, but we do not know the context of your text book, like the heading that says: "multiply the following". Even if I now look at everything above the first "Additional details", I can to some extent understand the "rude" comment from xxtraswe. Your question did not make any sense at all. Please be mindful of that next time. If they want you to multiply, you need to say that up front.

All the answers that solved your problem were submitted after you clarified that)

(4n² - 3n - 1) * 3n

Just distribute 3n through the parentheses (multiply it by each part of 4n² - 3n -1) as shown below:
(4n² * 3n) + (-3n * 3n) + (-1 * 3n)

Now simplify:
= 12n³ - 9n² - 3n

let (4n^2-3n-1)x3n =0

we ca get (4n^2-3n-1)
=( 4n+1)(n-1)

so,
(3n)(4n+1)(n-1)=0

3n=0............4n+1=0 ...........n-1=0
n=0..............n=-1/4...............n=1

so, we get
n=0 or -1/4 or 1
