Alright so im really considering circumcision now, after many questions/research, im living in canada, and wait time for elective surgery is over 2 years, so should i go to the US to get it done, and can i make an appointment at a US urologist over the phone? (money is not an issue) and do i need a referral from a family doctor in canada first? thanks!

let me give my cents' worth of opinion on this.

first, research have shown that circumcision does not offer any medical benefit to men and thus may not be performed. the basic dictum in medicine is: "first, do no harm". if circumcision do not offer any benefit, why do we have to go through pain and spend money?

here in the philippines, circumcision used to be viewed as the rite of passage to adulthood. but lately, more and more doctors are not advocating it for the reasons stated above.

If you're planning on paying in cash, you can just call up a urologist and make an appointment. Just tell them you'll be paying for the procedure out of pocket. You may want to get some referrals for a quality urologist before having a stranger cut into your manly bits. And if you're not in sync with the doc you see, be sure to get a second opinion.

Up to you, but seeing as you haven't actually consulted a doctor over it yet, I would do that first. He will probably advise that circumcision is not required and if you do have any kind of medical problem there are other less drastic ways to correct it.

Here is a link to Dr. Dave in Atlanta, he also travels. All he does is adult circumcisions and is very pro circumcision! I was circ'd at 18 and would do it again tomorrow! Contrary to the 4skin fetsih sites, sex is 100% better when you are cut! It is healthier all around with no drawbacks at all! I was done in office with a local! Circumcised on a Friday and back to class on the following Monday! Guys that are uncut don't know what they are missing!

Yes by all means have it done. Being a stranger you want to be careful that you get a skillful doctor. One way would be to call a university that has a medical school and hospital attached. You won't regret it.
