Different reasons

1) She doesn't want to come off as snobby and egotistical if she says "Yes, I know I'm hot." Saying "Oh I'm not all that, but thanks anyway" seems more beneficial for some people (so they won't get hated on for being arrogant jerks).

2) They think you're lying. For your own personal gain, or just to make them feel better.

3) Other.

At least that's how I and some other girls feel when we can't accept compliments.

For some people, compliments are like a sponge. They come and go. If a person has low self-esteem, no amount of compliments are going to make that person feel better..it's up the person themselves. Maybe try finding someone secure in the aspect of receiving compliments.

EDIT: No, nothing wrong with saying "nice hair" or "nice outfit." Just don't overdo it, or some might think something is fishy.

adult males and females human beings tend to be raised in a diverse way. This creates a definite approach. women study that they are meant to act a definite way, and having a stressful time accepting compliments can stem out of this. In my journey, i've got observed that ladies human beings tend to be complimented better than adult males, no longer much less. this might come from the comparable psychology i replaced into speaking approximately in the previous. additionally, once you introduce your self, do you tell human beings all the constructive attributes you have blanketed above? no longer meaning to be harsh, yet while that's what you do, it may come off as boastful. (when you consider that i do no longer understand in case you do it or no longer, i'm no longer able to declare it fairly is the case, so please do no longer take it as an insult; i'm in simple terms asserting). human beings will oftentimes compliment human beings they see as boastful much less.

It depends entirely on context. For example, if you say this to your boss too often it is likely to result in:

- fellow employees viewing you as a 'brown noser'
- making her feel uncomfortable/uneasy
- making her irritated/annoyed
- making you look like a weirdo/pervert

Of course, context is everything but at work it's usually best just to keep your 'nose to the grindstone' and your eyes straight ahead.

I love to hear a good compliment. I guess that you just don't know the right kind of women.

Smile. I hate to say it, but so very often compliments are used as bribes in a way of getting something from us. We are blessed with intuition, so we can see through your act and feel the humiliation of being thought of as a simpleton. After experiencing that kind of a treatment time and again, we stop being gracious and become armed and ready for the next time you decide to insult our intelligence. Sad, but true...

I'm a woman and I don't have a hard time accepting compliments. Can't relate to your question.

It depends on the nature of the compliment, and also the person herself. As someone who appreciates brains over brawn and looks, I bestow upon and happily receive compliments regarding my intelligence, my personality and independence (NOT that I'm saying I am anything of these things!!) I admire a person who studies and works hard, who is a scholar and academic more than someone who compliments me on my outward appearance.

We don't! We (meaning me) love them! Unless we are being showered with compliments from someone we don't want to hear them from and it makes us personally uncomfortable...

We love compliments!
We just don't always believe what we hear.
