Current Job: ALT with the JET program in Matsumoto, Japan
Best part: being able to have the flexibility to try new things since I didn't come into the program with any prior teaching experience. Also along with trying new things - meeting different kinds of people from the sweet but friendly students at my base school to the thugs (who aren't all bad) and downright terrified teens at my visit school. Every day is a lesson in making it work (because I <3 Tim Gunn) and trying to make myself be more positive and flexible.
The Best part of the Best part: I get to share it all with my fiance =D
Worst part: The emotional roller-coaster that is teaching. One day I'll feel awesome and the next day one of the thugs calls me a ***** and refuses to stop talking on their cell phone in class. For this job you have to be the kind of person that just lets things roll off your back and because I've never really been that it's hard.
The worst part of the worst part: experiencing racism in and out of the classroom. Like people talking about me since they don't think I understand Japanese or in being labeled, as one of my fiance's teachers called us, a gaijin which is an outsider and being told that we'll never truly belong to the country in which we live.

Best: The comfort and security of a steady income and a job I actually enjoy.
Worst: 6 days a week. 8 and a half hour days. Don't always have the time to chat with the people I want to.

best part? well, as concerning my duties I have a certain degree of liberty collaborators, subcontractors and free time.
worst? Things concerning bureaucracy are awful here in East Europe....and choosing to do some business with the State works in a too slow pace.
ps
I am a c.o.o. in a German company.

best part is having the kids tell me that they love me, they give me pics they colored and i get to see them grow and learn. the worst part is some of the parents who do not want to have any part of their child's learning experience or "forget" to pay. If i did not love and care about these kids i would just to "forget" to show up to work!
