I kept a colony of eight adult mice in an uncovered fish tank that was 14" tall. With bedding and cardboard boxes for housing the lip of the tank was about 11-12" from the floor. Of the eight two managed to figure out how to get out by hopping to the top and grabbing the edge of the tank with their front paws. From this experience I would say that an exceptionally "athletic" mouse, perhaps a carrier of the so called "jumping gene" that someone else alluded to, has a vertical leap of 10-12" max. Three times its body length, pretty impressive.

I am certain, a mouse can jump at least 2'. My evidence, I own a pet shop and sell lots of mice.
That is a mouse without the jumping gene, by the way.
We really try to get mice that don't have the jumping trait because with that trait, they jump at least 6" higher.
