is there a way to hide your mini feed in facebook?

You can't hide mini-feed, but you can delete items from mini-feed by clicking on the X at the right of the item. If you click on the mini-feed title bar, the mini-feed will collapse, meaning that you won't see it when you look at profiles. But other people will still be able to see it.

Yes, click "hide" in the mini-feed title bar or go to your privacy options.
