How do you give up the path that you are on and find another one more in tune to the present situation?

Just to be different, I'll presume the new path to be the correct one. Aside from obvious stuff like "change your major", the way to start down a new path starts with a new mindset. Start thinking differently and you'll start seeing differently and then you'll start acting differently. How to start thinking differently? Well, nobody can actually "change". You just have to learn more and grow. Instead of repudating your previous ideas, learn enough to acquire new ideas which can be weighed against your old ones. Wow! Way freaking deep for Y!A.

Ms Crone, as a part of your path of choice, GOOD selection of the tools that you'll need to use, your strategies and methods, and proper allocation of time and energy BEFOREHAND is just as important as the actual DOING of whatever endeaver you have decided upon. If you run into your "deadline" with the work uncompleted then THAT is a good sign that YOU didn't do the proper preparing in the first place, OR that your plans were unrealistic.

At this point, on THIS project, you either have to be willing to abandon it or have the deadline extended. This should also serve as a lesson that ALL future endeavers need to be better planned and coordinated.

I close my eyes and spin in circles and when I'm really dizzy I think about my options and the first one that makes sense, I follow up on.

Not really. I just live day to day and I'm only beginning to know how to plan things. But I hadn't had a question from you in a while so I thought I'd try to sound like I knew what I was talking about.

Good luck. I know consciously defining a goal is hard , but worth it because indecision and hesitation lead to the "what ifs" and regret.

my goodness what a cryptic question! Do you want to give up the path you are on? Are the two entirely incompatible? Can they not co-exist? I can't quite fathom what you would have to give up, but I wouldn't give up anything on a path that was working for me. However, if a path is not working for me and is deleterious to my growth, I would abandon it without a second thought.

Wisdom comes in handy as in what works and what doesn't. Sometimes but not always we have to say goodbye to the things we know and hello to the things we don't.

I just leave it for later in the day, tomorrow or the weekend.
Depending on what it is of course.

You let it go, and move on.
Nothing fancy, no mumbo jumbo. Plain and simple.
