Great inventive guy...he developed some amazing 'black-out' TV camera techniques for humor bits way ahead of shows like "Laugh-In"...and created some super weird characters [remember Percy Dovetonsils, the poet in the brocade smoking jacket & thick glasses?]. The Nairobi Trio always included whoever the guest star was that week, plus Ernie of course...usually as the gorilla keyboardist [look for the cigar]. Most comics who came along later say that Kovacs was a prime innovator and tip their hats to his inventive genius and made-for-TV schtick.

I remember when he was on What's My Line and The Ernie Kovacs Show. I also remember when he was in 'North To Alaska' with John Wayne.

His television show was a highlight of his era. The Nairobi Trio was one of my favorites. His appearance in the movie "Bell, Book and Candle" stood out in an otherwise mediocre movie. What a shame that his life was cut short by an automobile accident.

Ernie Kovacs didn't he call people meatball or something like that, rather a suave mustache always wanted one of those.

not only in North to Alaska but in Bell, Book and Candle along with several other movies. He was a good actor who almost always caused a laugh even in a serious situation.

I remember him. I loved his show. A few years ago a movie was made about his life before and after he married Edie Adams. Jeff Goldblum was in it. Pretty good movie.

Yes, and I was listening to the radio the night they announced that he died. So sad. He was one funny guy.
