Start by working from the characters ... does it seem to you that more of them DID get what they deserved (good people got good things, bad people got bad) or that more of them DIDN'T?

e.g.,

Silas
Eppie
Dunstan
Godfrey
Molly
Nancy
minor characters such as the young woman Silas loved in youth, and the man she married

Make yourself a little chart with these columns:
Name What s/he did What happened My verdict

Hopefully that will be enough to jog your memory if you've read the book and simply don't have it handy to consult, as you say. Then you make notes so as to develop each example.

Hang on a second,
I think I have my copy in the closet.
I'll get back to ya!
Edit:
I couldn't find my copy,
but I did find my list that I used
when I was home schooling the girls,
I hope these web sites will help.

This last one is the full text of Silas Marner.
You didn't say when this essay was due,
so hopefully this will give you the info you
are needing for that assignment.

Lies. When people lie they tend to get back to the truth and they look like a jerk. Use something like that, it's a no fail situation!
