U have to...even if u don't have any income, u still must file!
They can actually fine u if you don't file or someone else doesn't file for u.

Don't listen to anyone that tells u that u don't have to file. They r like 13 years old and their parents file for them.

You might be required to. If you are getting unemployment compensation, that's taxable income.

If you don't have income for the year, there would be no reason for you to file a tax return. If you think you'd get something back because of the child, like a child tax credit or EIC, you wouldn't if you don't have any income.

But if you don't have income, your parents can very likely claim both you and your child if THEY have income, and can get the child tax credit and also maybe an education credit for part of your tuition and fees if you are in college.

Yet again, I'm amazed at the number of people who give wrong answers to this type of question.

as a single person, my question for you is do your parents claim you on their taxes. If you are unemployed and have made NO income for the year then you are not required to file, and I have attached my source. But you again you did not say if you have made any income for their year.

As a side advice, you parents can take deduction for you and your child and your tution costs that you get, they can also get some money back there, look up hope and life time credit.

If you make more than a certain amount you are required to file. There may be credits you can get like the earned income credit or child care credits, etc. that could entitle you to free money even if you owe no tax. You should look at the IRS website and/or call the IRS (anonymously) and see if they can give you some advice.

How do you support your child if you're unemployed?
Everybody has to file taxes. I don't know where you live, but here in Canada people who have no or low income with kids gets money every month for the kid and if they don't file their taxes they don't get it.
I think it would be wise for you to file them. You could be missing out on some benefits and stuff depending on where you live.

I will say no. You file for taxes because you get a certain amount of money back from what they take out of your paychecks. (or you have to pay them it depends on the person and job) But if there is no paychecks then there is no need to file. You will not get arrested if you don't file (even if I'm wrong and your suppose to). I have known people who have not filed when they didn't have a job (over 18) and nothing government wise happened to them.

You have to file taxes. That's a period at the end of that sentence.

If you don't have any income from employment, how would you file taxes? You need to have an income!

If you have any kind of income you can file. If you don't have income then you don't have anything to claim.
