The answer to this depends on the nature of your class. Assuming the square root is over both the 24 and the 2, my answer would be as follows:

=8 + √12
=8 + 2√3
=2(4+√3)

If the square root is only over the 24 and not the 2, then my answer is as follows:

=8 + √(24/4)
=8 + √6

8 + √24/2
8 + (√4√6)/2
8 + (2√6)/2

If the fraction is under the 24 ONLY than my answer would be:

8+√12 (for even a simpler version) = 8+3.47 = 11.47

If the fraction is under the WHOLe thing my answer would be:

4+√12 (for even a simpler version) = 4+3.47 = 7.47


BASICLY: 11.47 or 7.47
