I have recently taken a standard I.Q. test in school.
When my results came in, I found out that I have an I.Q. of 141. I want to find out if this is normal.

Every age group should have the average of 100.

Basically, you put in your age at the beginning of the IQ test so the test can set a standard of how many questions you will get right according to your age.

Just think of it like this:
A 10-year-old who scored as high as the average 13-year-old, for example, would have an IQ of 130 (100*13/10). So if all 40-year-olds get an average of 50 right on an IQ test, getting 50 right would be 100 IQ for the 40 year olds.

BTW, 141 is really good.

Most standard IQ tests set the average score at 100 regardless of the ages of the persons taking them. This is the point at which half of those tested score higher and half score lower or the 50th percentile. As a 15 year old, you were compared with all the other 15 year olds who were in the standardization group.

If you were tested using the more popular individually or group administered tests, your score of 141 would be remarkably high exceeding about 99% of your agemates. There's really not an AVERAGE IQ but I'd say that since 141 is getting close to genious, that's good. But IQ measures potential, not intelligence. Are you in any advanced classes. Because if your IQ is 141, you really should be.

Average IQ for any age group is 80-100. You are WELL above average and would be considered gifted in school. Keep in mind, though, that just having a very high IQ isn't enough. You still need to study, have goals, and work hard to get what you want out of life. Congratulations and good luck!

An IQ of 141 is in the top 2% of the population, or something like that.

While it sounds good, that still means there are 5 million people in America with a higher IQ. Which kinda deflates things a little.

There is little correlation between IQ and earning capacity.

But - have fun with it! I know I do. Sometimes.

100 IQ should be what a 15 year old knows and is expected to know. 110 IQ is about 16 years old and keeps going on. IQ age is basically IQ/100(your age). So your at about 19 years old. I'm not 15, but my IQ at 13 is about 139. I think anything over 120 IQ is considered "gifted"

i bet you have already read my answer to the other iq question. if not...
being as smart as you think you are you should realize this test is nothing more or less than a head trip.
i have never taken one and i will never by now -- i dropped out of Yale university because life is too important to waste on social, intellectual races. (3.83 average by the way)
so don't let this 165 iq go to your head -- it only means you guessed right or got the questions easy for you.
my cousin was an international supergenius --190 or some impossible number
he passed in a car accident, bless him -- all we remember is how much we all, and I mean hundreds and hundreds of us out here, loved him and what a blessing it was to be with him.
take that head full of brains, strap it to your heart, and do something good for your planet, the babies, and your family.
i do not mean to rant, but lost in one's intellectual idea of one's self is no place to be.
blessings

IQ tests are scored so they are not age-specific.
A 141 IQ is up in the genius range (above 135). So join Mensa.
