I baught a guppy that was pregnant and I put her in the birthing device. I feel bad that she does not have much room. So how long are they pregnant and what signs are there that she is going to give birth? Also what size do they need to be to be out back in the tank with other fish?

Usually four weeks. They can have anywhere from 3-4 babies up to 150 or more, so it depends on how many fry are in her as how fat she will get. You'll be able to recognize one in labor after a while. They tend to sit on the bottom more, and their belly really pooches out towards the end.

The babies can be released when they are large enough to not get swallowed by another fish.

Good luck and enjoy!

The gestation period for all livebearers is 28 days a few days plus or minus depending on the stresslevel the have to live with and temperature
If it's her first time, she might have only about 5 fry, but the older they are the more fry they will have, up to about 50 is not unusual
You will see her growing and also notice the gravid spot, which is usually black, but can also be light colored right where the anal fin is
They get a squary appearance about them just before birth, sometimes a week before it already
Read the following article, it has also pics to see what i'm talking about

Hope that helps
Good luck

Depending on the age of your guppy it can give from 4-100+ fry (the older the bigger = more babies)..

They are pregnant for 4 weeks and the signs you will see is the guppy hiding behind the heater/filter.. and it will eventually stop swimming around and stop eating..
