This is the best reason for reducing light pollution at night. It's stopped us looking up.

Is this the first time in your life you've seen the moon during the day? It's visible for some of the daylight hours on most days. The only time it isn't is for a few days each month. A couple of days around New Moon, when the lit side is facing directly away from Earth, and the couple of days around Full Moon, when it's fully on the night side of the Earth. All other days it will be "following" the sun across the afternoon sky, or "leading" the sun across the morning sky.

You'll notice that, when you see it during the day, it's never full.

There is no special name for it. It is such a common thing I guess nobody ever though we needed a special name.
