Hi! My home computer, which is a HP vs17 Microsoft Windows XP model, will not start up. I would turn it on, and then it would restart over and over again if I just leave and come back. I tried safe mode, last known configuration, and start windows normally when I get to the screen with white font and a black background, but it still restarts to that page after the Windows Xp Logo. I can't even reach my desktop!

I tried some things, like going to the Recovery Console, but it doesn't work and goes to the "Blue Screen of Death". It doesn't even restart when it gets there, I have to hold on the Power Button and shut it down that way and press the button again. I have no clue what to do, and please try to explain it in steps!!! I'm not very tech-savvy. :]

I do not want to lose the files on my computer, and it is about 3-4 years old. It's still fairly new, and I cannot risk losing all my memories [pics] and documents on that computer... please help!!! Thanks so very much for helping!

you may have a major virus or worm. If you have a clean BOOT disk, try that. If not, you may need to take the PC tower to a computer geek.

My first theory may be the flexibility grant fan. turn on your computer and sense for air being pumped out from the flexibility grant vent. in case you won't be in a position to sense air you're cautioned to substitute the flexibility grant. in case you could sense air, pay attention for a damn noise and sniff to verify if it smells of burning. If this is okay: Take the component panel off and consider to verify if the cpu fan is spinning and if your pictures card has a fan, examine that this is spinning. If defective those followers can get replaced.

This would be the perfect time for a boot disk, I'd suggest cleaning your system if you can access the net
