how would I determine the value of the trig ratios when I'm given the angle in radians ?

a.) cot 0.942
b.)csc 3.3

and how did u plug it into your caculator ?

cot = 1/tan
csc = 1/sin

For part a) you should type 1/tan(0.942) in your calculator to get the cotangent.

Scientific calculators have a setting for whether angles are in radians or degrees. Make sure you are set to use radians first. If you don't know how to change the setting but know it is using degrees, you'll have to convert the given angle from radians to degrees first.

Switch your calculator to radian mode instead of degrees mode. The manual will show you how. Then you just have to press the keys the way you do in degrees mode.

Different brands may have different sequences of keystrokes.

a) cot 0.942

Some brands will require you to press the function key first, then .942

Some will require you to press .942 first, then the function key

If you dont see a cot key on your calculator, just use tan and then get the reciprocal of your answer. That's because cot = 1/tan

This is what you should get : cot 0.942 = 0.7272

b) csc 3.3

Same explanation

csc = 1/sin

answer : csc 3.3 = -6.3393

If you want to remain in degrees mode, then just convert the radian values you have into degrees.

The conversion factor is 180 degrees / pie radians, or
180 degrees / 3.1416 radians

a) 0.942 radians x (180 degrees / 3.1416 radians ) = 53.97 degrees

b) 3.3 radians x 180 degrees / 3.1416 radians = 189.08 degrees

1 deg = Pi/180 rad

so 0.942 rad = 53.97 deg

you could also change the mode of you calculator to radians and then you could just type the angle in radians.

First of all to convert radians to degrees you *180/Pi second to find those values on your calculator you will need to get them to basic trig functions which are cos sin and tan
from the identities
cot(theta)=1/tan(theata)
and
csc(theata)=1/sin(theta)
you should be able to find the values

You have to change your calculator mode to radians. If you have a TI 89 you push mode and scroll down to where it says degree push the right arrow which will bring up a menu. finally select radian and push enter twice.

most calculators convert from radians to degrees. Then you can either look the function up in a table or use your calculators.
