my hubby has the same problem. guys tend to be really hardheaded and shut down when you bring up their flaws. just keep it short and simple and say, "i'd love it if you'd try your best to work on...." and let him know you realize you have flaws and tell him you're trying to work on the things you do that bother him too. and keep it short and sweet. oh, and never say, "i hate it when you..." because that's just asking for an argument. and remember it doesn't have to be a huge discussion or attack on him. just let him know you'd appreciate it if he'd work on it and leave it at that. even if he doesn't say anything or seems like he's ignoring you, it's in his head and he'll most likely give it some thought if you don't make him feel like he's being attacked.

You need to allow enough time for both of you to cool down. When you are angry, your tone sound accusatory. Let some time go by and tell him that you would like to discuss it.

When you do talk to him, don't point fingers unless you are pointing them at yourself. Change your sentence from "you always..." to "I feel...".

Maybe-- just maybe-- you don't make sense to him when you talk!
