I don't think this is as much in style now as it used to be, but I found it fun to do the mommy/daughter or even mother/son matching outfits thing from time to time, especially for special occasions. I think matching or coordinating tees or sweaters would be really sweet. I almost always at least wore complimentary colors to what I put on the baby when we went out somewhere, just in case we ended up taking pictures for the scrapbook or something!
For everyday, polos are one step up from tees as far as a smart casual look, and you could probably still get away with some of the trendy tops and layered tee looks. Jackets/blazers over tees or tops will dress it up one more notch, especially if you choose some really stylish matching accessories (jewelry, purse, belt, shoes).
You could also show your style with different cuts and washes of jeans--skinny, trouser, embellished, etc.

Best advice for staying stylish -
1] exercise. Take that baby for long walks, do 3 sets each of 10 reps of pushups, situps, and crunches every day.
2] lay out clothes before bed. You won't have to think so much in AM; and they will be handy if there is an emergency. Wear your best brights and pastels in tops - they flatter the face more.
3] start a collection of cute but comfy shoes - ballet flats, slip ons, loafers, moccasins, etc. for running around.
4] collect some cute jackets, sweaters, hoodies if you like them, so you look pulled together in a minute!
5] put on earrings and watch when dressing
6] to run out, you just need a jacket and some lipstick!
7] also, keep the diaper bagloaded with everything but milk - load it up after dinner so it's ready!

i really do not see why you need to change the way you dress because you have a baby now..just because youre a mom does not mean you need to dress the part
try to find some great jeans..ones that are comfortable but can still look good if you throw heels on...and maybe some longer tunic or baby doll tees...stylish but easy to throw in the wash when they get puked on

I have a two year old and I can relate to the jeans and tee's thing. I love going to NY & Co as well as old navy. Old Navy has the fitted t's that show's off your curves and makes you fell sexy while being comfy. NY & Co just has alot of great stuff.
