I have seen this list before - it's been on the internet a while. It's true enough, but it's giving Coke an undeserved reputation..
The reactivity of Coke is due to carbolic acid, which is a very mild compared to a lot of other acids we consume in food and beverages (e.g. acetic acid in vinegar, citric acid in citrus fruits are stronger)
Hydrochloric (stomach) acid is MANY times stronger than the acid in Coke, so if you are thinking that drinking Coke will do significant damage to your digestive tract, you can rest easy now.
However, The 19 TEASPOONS of SUGAR per 12 oz can have a he**ava impact on your health...just keeping things in perspective with an intellectual answer.

You have picked out a perfect intellectual question. This something that needed to be told about. I knew of these things were being cleaned by the Coke. That is one of the big reasons I quit drinking coke. I figured if it was doing all of these things what was it doing to my stomach!
When Coke 1st came out that it was using cocaine in the soda, it was to get people to drink more it and hooked on the stuff. The cocaine was to be taken out of it's product and Coke-Cola was fined a huge amount of money although the coke was taken out of their product people were already hooked to their product.
Who said we need more intelligent questions here? I don't remember seeing that question.
I personally like it the other way.

I'll say it again, look at the effect it has on teeth. The combination of sugar with all of the other ingredients can be harmful. I hardly ever drink soft drinks but sugarfree Coca Cola is good.

Hey, good info Suzie! When I was young, I worked in a lunch counter. One day I spilled Coke on the cash register and didn't have time to wipe it up. Later I cleaned it and ALL the paint came off right down to the metal. My manager was mad because it was a new register. At the time, someone told me Alka Seltzer will do the same thing. Dunno tho.

Do you work for the Coca-cola company? Did you know that it used to have cocaine as one of its ingredients? Did you know that it was considered to be a "birth control device" if a condom broke?
