Because molecules are being built, these reactions are anabolism. I used to always remember that anabolism was like the word "add" ... molecules are added together to become bigger molecules ... add-abolism.

Then catabolism is the other one, so catabolism must be the reactions that break molecules apart. You really only have to remember one of the terms.

The process for producing messenger RNA is called transcription.
