Is there a spider that is strong enough to push a human out of the way when it's coming after you? I read it on some site but I can't find the site again. It said something about a particular spider that is strong enough that if you were running from it and pushed against your kitchen door (or whatever other door) it could push the door open trying to get at you. Is there really such a spider? If so, what's the name of it? And do you know any sites that I can look on to find information on it?

As an engineer, I don't think so. The forces of the opening a door would not allow a spider to overcome your immense force. Human muscles are far more powerful, even pound per pound than a spider's even though they appear strong for their size since they are so small.

Use a little common sense - even at the age of four, I could keep my younger sister from opening the door to get at me. You're telling me a spider (no matter what its size) is going to be stronger than a person (no matter how small)? Next you'll be panicking about how to clean your windshield from the droppings of flying pigs.

There is no spider strong enough that the weakest human couldn't restrain it with one hand. The only problem is that too much pressure would squish it.

As you can see it's on an urban myth page...it exists but it can't do ANY of the things people say it can...
