I use a piece of scrap wood to hold the blade in place while I tighten the nut. Hand-tightening with the wrench that came with the table saw is sufficient.

Motor rotatoin is opposite thread pitch,so it tightens itself, snug, should be fine.

The guards should be in place.
The saw should very snug.
The torque on the nut should be 8 to 10 foot pounds.

Not too much, otherwise you'll never get it off. The nut will tighten up even more as you use it. As long as there's no obvious slipping, it'll be fine.

if you tighten it with the wrench and hold the blade with your hand its tight enough....P.S. make sure its unplugged

tigh, the bolt counter rotating will help secure it!!
