The problem is that the "Dems" now entail sane, normal people who tilt left as well as the radical Daily Kos crowd who are all conspiracy theorists. Just the other day President Clinton chided a conspiracy theorist in Minneapolis when he shouted 9/11 was an inside job. This is what the Democrat Party has become. It's sad, but true.

it is sweet! the most important distinction is: Conservatives have self assurance in God, smaller authorities, and private duty. Liberals wade through a psychological ailment and have self assurance (study as dream) that the State (i.e. authorities) might want to play the area of God as a thanks to create a Heaven in the international (the position there is not any choose for extraordinarily own duty b/c the authorities will make all possibilities for all persons). i'm highly certain it is what the tale above receives at.

If you were talking to me, in person, I would probably be much too polite to bring up either. I'm still not sure what the difference is between "true conservatives" and "neo-con," so I'm not even sure what category I fit in. I'd never say or argue, in person, what I do here.

After reading the liberal responses to this baseless generalization, I don't think an answer is necessary. Liberal stupidity is self evident in the answers, reduced to statements of generalization and stereotyping. As for your questions, I know from reading them in the past that generalized declarations are the best you can muster and they are usually devoid of any underlying fact or substance.

What's a "True Conservative"?
Is that somebody the Left prays the GOP will nominate because nobody will vote for them?
What's a "Neo-Con"?
Is it still Liberal/Paleo-Con code for "Jew", or does it mean something else now?
Kind of odd that "Liberals" are now so utterly opposed to overthrowing dictators. That did not used to be the case.
P.S. Alot of your so-called "Neo-cons" are no more socially conservative than......
You are.

Because since the birth of our country, if you belonged to a party apart from your own you immediately thought they were "stupid" and hated them. Not as extreme today, but if one holds completely opposite views of your own, and are steadfast in their ways, what's the point? George Washington even warned about the dangers and consequences of political parties, but hey America's alive. Anything but politics is where Dems and Repubs find common ground - somewhat..

There are some conservatives on YA that I actually REALLY like - don't let that get out. Lets just keep that among ourselves. ;).
But to answer your question - it seems as if they realize we are each allowed our own opinions & life is about MORE than a political debate. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE having intelligent conversations, even a good debate from time to time - but does it have to be EVERY SINGLE convo??
I think extremist lose sight of everything else & make political debates their life. They also seem more likely to revert to name calling & personal insults.

Too many just try to make party their priority. Where I live we know we are not all the same, but we work for the betterment of the community. It works out well, for the most part. Dems or repubs would be happy living here.

You mean other than the fact that the neocons are almost as obnoxious in person as here on Y/A? :)
Seriously--the psychology/sociology of this is a bit complicated--but here's the core of it:
>the neocon/religious right (the two overlap so much you can't seperate them) are mostly drawn from a subculture of working/lower middle class whites who have spent their lives relatively isolated from the mainstream. They havve been taught (a better word is indoctrinated) into a narrow ideology that, among other things, focuses on personality rather than issues (hence the constant carping on Clinton) or that characterizes anyone deviating from their ideology in derogatory terms, without regard to the facts or reasons for the disagreement ("your either with us or against us," etc.). Hence the obsession with "liberal media," etc.
There's more, of course--that's hardly a complete picture. but that answers the specific points you raised.
