I'm a freshman in high school and I am interested in jounalism. English and History are the subjects i excell and do the best in. I'm also considering a profession in theater arts/ playwriting. So what do you think would be the best school for me after high school if I plan on becoming a journalist? I want to go to the very best school, and be one of the very best.

I have spoken to the public several times, and my English teachers have petted me because of my writing skills. I seem to write better from real life rather than fiction, which is why i'm so interested in journalism.

There are plenty of good ones, so it may depend on geography, cost, etc. Columbia, Northwestern, Missouri and Syracuse are good starting points.

One thing to remember -- college may be less important in journalism than, say, law. Your work does the talking in the business -- how well can you report and write?

Northwestern is a good school for journalism and English too in case you decide to go into that.

I get asked this a lot and my answer has never changed. It really doesn't matter what school you go to as long as you can do the job.

You get tons of folks who have gone to the great schools working next to folks who have gone to a state school or something in their hometowns. It doesn't really matter.

My advise to you is if you're going into print, learn how to write and work the web. If you're going into TV, take speech, video editing and writing classes.

Bottom line, get a degree, but it doesn't matter where you get it.
