I'm already prepared for this. I have a Brink's security system. If they can get that and step over my dog which will want to be petted I have a nice little gun right in a pocket I had sewn in the mattress so no one would notice what I was doing.
And beware, I always fired Master in the military and rarely ever miss a target. I also have mace in the living room and the bathroom. I had a friend attacked and killed by a burglar and I try to be prepared. Oh, and I also have a golf club with a cute Virginia Cavaliers Cover on it by the front door and a baseball bat by the patio doors.
Did I miss anything?

Right now I am in the process of storing a bunch of my moms stuff temporarily, so my weapon of defense would be all of the boxes in the way that they would trip over in the dark.

The walking stick hanging up behind my sitting room door door! (I know - and I am in a wheelchair but?)
this lady Jennalov... and the others with guns scare me I had a friend who couldn't use her hand properly as her brother found one when they were small ('safely' hidden on top of the wardrobe)where she took a bullet in her hand which thanks to her quick reaction knocked it away from her head and through her chin as well as her hand. and I would be more scared of the kiddies getting the guns than not having them in my house and finding another form of defence. Sorry but I tend to be afraid the guns present more of a risk to the kids than the felon does to you or them.

My hands and feet, and my knowledge of pressure points on the body. Do they have a gun? If so, then hiding in a crate in my basement. Or hiding waiting with a blunt object.

Any old handgun. Otherwise, nothing. Unless the intruder directly threatens you, deliberatly harming/killing the guy is manslaughter, and you could actually go to court and serve jail time for it. So you cant shoot him even if he takes your TV with him in plain site. Calling the cops would be the best answer, or somehow hindering him.

my two dogs are pretty harmless, but their barks, (especially the little girl dog) are pretty damn scary and vicious sounding
they'd scare the intruder away
if not, the girl dog (not the boy, surprisingly) she'd probably bite the guy..she doesn't like tall men that she doesn't know
otherwise, i have some knives in the kitchen just to ward him off
