I need to know for burying a drain pipe.

You should be safe at about 30".

According to this:

they reduced it from 36" to 30". To be sure, you should call the local building department; but if all you're putting in is a drain pipe (nothing that requires permit/inspection) I would think 30" is fine. Here in Leesburg VA it's 24".

Normally your town building codes will determine this. Call the town and speak to the building inspector.
