I don't think he has, he is a genius, I love all his music. Some credit should be given to Bernie Taupin, Elton's writing partner. His lyrics are touching and his songs always flow beautifully, I really enjoy his music.

Actually, when I clicked on this, I thought, hey, there must be at least one. But keep in mind, Elton writes the music, others write the lyrics (notably Bernie Taupin). I certainly can think of a few songs that are weaker than others, but not a stinker among them, and none even among the weaker songs were I'd claim that the music was the problem. He's certainly a genius, even when the words might have been chosen more carefully.

Not in my eyes. I have all his albums, even the "Rare Masters" set, and bootleg demos also. I have yet to hear any song composed by Sir Elton that is bad. You are absolutely right - he is a musical genius!

I guess some of the work in his very early albums is mediocre, but for many, many years I have liked all of his creations. he is such a talented man, he has found ways of being fresh without ever loosing his artistic identity. besides as a concert performer and piano player he is outstanding and I love his life performances even better than the Cd versions !!!

Yeah, he doesn't even write his lyrics, Bernie does. Not to take anything away from him, it's Elton's melodies that pull people in, but still.
Anyway, back to the question, I'm sure for every good song he co-writes, theres one or two bad ones. Probably anyway. I'm not that familiar with his work really.

Everyone puts out a clunker at least once. I hate "Nikita" for instance, but Elton has been great on most everything else. But that's so subjective. I thought "Bennie & the Jets" was one of his best songs, but someone else here panned it.

Yeah, I think it's called "I Don't Want To Go On With You Like That" - eh, that song's not so good. I think "Circle Of Life" from The Lion King is bad, too.

Thats really a matter of opinion. EVen if one song didn't appeal to the masses it could still appeal to one person and there for not be a bad song.
