"hey how are you?"
"got anything cool going on this weekend?"
"want to have sex?"
3rd one works the best.

Try talking about something that he likes or enjoys doing.
Is he shy all the time or just around you? Its possible that he is intimidated by you (but not in a threatning way) and is not quite sure how to approach you either. Not saying thats the case just saying that its possible.
I bring this up since it sounds like you dont know your "friend" too well. Getting to know people can be very difficult at first but just remember that we are all strangers when we first meet. Each of us knowing nothing about the other person initially.
If he is shy then he might be a little unsure or apprehensive as to why you suddenly want to talk to him.
Its tough to give you much advice beyond that from behind a computer screen.
Good luck! : )

Find out what he's interested in, and ask him questions. Most people like to talk about themselves. See if there's something you're both interested in, and discuss that subject. Keep things light and impersonal. Before long, he should come out of his shell and meet you on common ground. You call him a "guyfriend", so you must know each other. Be friendly and talk about school, sports, etc.

Ask him about himself. It's true of most people that if you ask them about themselves, they will open up. As in, "Have you ever traveled by train--or airplane--or boat?" "Where did you go?" Or, "Where are you going for Thanksgiving?" which can lead to "Will there be many people there?" Don't ask yes are no questions, but ones that ask for more information. That should give you a start. I'm sure you can think up some better ones.
This is true for most anyone, no just boys.

Try something like this, Hi, How are you today? Or maybe something a little tricky, Hi (friends name), I realy like your hair today. Or, something on the lines of, Hey, what's going on. Just say something, if they don't say anything back, do you realy want them as a friend?
