Do you sleep before you're awake, or awake before you sleep?

I always sleep before I wake up.........how can I wake up if I'm not asleep.............gosh!!

Technically, both. I awake a good 16 hours before sleeping again(this means waking up, going to school, leaving school, doing hw, then sleeping).
