NADP is also called the hydrogen interceptor
when NADP intercepts Hydrogen it makes NADPH

Both molecules supply energy to the Calvin cycle. NADPH also supplies hydrogens to build the glucose.

Try wikipedia but I think it is to create oxygen and more ATP. ATP is energy that we use and i think the calvin cycle makes more of that.
