This is yet another expression derived and translated from the now defunct Albanian sock repair industry. Hells bells or "flikten fluffen flopson caputsen" refers to the only known condition that could render a sock unrepairable, The Hells Bells are little balls of fluff that delaminate from the main body of the sock, usualy in the area of the heel. These fluff balls indicate that the the basic structural integrity of the sock is lost beyond repair and the garment is then suitable only for soup.
