What's the media's fascination with Britney Spears?

if the press was smart enough they'd focus on more important issues. i absolutely cannot believe how much she is scrutinized! everyday it's like breaking news! nonstop!

Go to youtube and watch clips of her from her Hawaii concert - Born to Make You Happy or any song. Wow - she was so classy and mature then! What happened??? The difference between her then and now is like day and night! She seemed more like an adult then and now she's acting like an out-of-control wild and crazy teenager. But I think I get it -- she never had a normal childhood. That's what I've been reading here and there. Hopefully she gets her act together for the sake of her two kids!

Well, she's a major recording star who has sold millions of CD's. She's pretty. And she can act in bizarre ways.

That makes her tailor-made for the entertainment press. There's always been a certain degree of fascination with the lives of celebrities, and Britney gives us plenty to talk about.

The news business covers a wide range of topics. No one is saying that her life is more important than killing in Iraq or starvation in the Sudan. But it's unrealistic to think that people aren't going to be interested in stars' behavior.

Of course, you can do what I do -- ignore her.
