what looks better on a resume?
1. Biology and Spanish double major

or

2. Biology major, Spanish & French minor.

I am planning on going to med school. I am fluent by the way in French just some classes to improve writing and more. But I know med school look for well rounded students and they look for humanities. so would be pick #1 or #2? I might practice most likely in the US then again I dont know. maybe in europe or africa maybe.

I would major only in biology, and minor in one or both of the languages. You will need a lot of chemistry, and you should take that in addition to the biology/microbiology classes. You shouldn't use that time for language, but rather for science if you want to graduate on time. It won't help your med school application to have majored in a language--and you will have enough language to be able to work in Spanish and French speaking areas of Africa or Europe.

Focus on getting great grades in the sciences and do the languages for fun. Good luck!

I would say the Spanish and Biology are the key points they would look at but if you plan to work near a french Canadian Provence or New Orleans area French could help you. Both options are great but if you need to pick one take the first and spend the extra time you would on studying french and do some volunteer work or find a job in a hospital/clinic.

Do the Bio/Spanish route. Spanish is more sought-after at the moment. Any chance you can pick up a Latin class??? Latin really helped me on the Boards... after all most medical teminology has roots in Greek and Latin.

Just a thought.

Good Luck! :)

They don't really care. Go with the one that you would enjoy more and that you would get better grades in. Medical schools look more at your GPA and your MCAT scores than what you actually majored in.

The best place to ask things like this really is on the pre-allo forums here http://forums.studentdoctor.net/
