Like, I need to dig a hole for that pipe that carries water away from the downspout...hope you get what i mean!!

Couple of feet. If not foot traffic, one foot. That way it is less likely to be crushed. Deeper if will have cars driving over it. Worrying about frost line will not be an issue. Drain pipes along the side of the house will be froze and not allow drainage when winter hits; therefore, nothing drains through the underground 'pipe'.

Hint: the connection from side of house downspout and the underground 'pipe', have a mesh/screen to prevent roof debris clogging the underground drainage. Use screen the size of 'fabric cloth' screen that has squares about 1/2" (window screen is too dense) or use plastic mesh found around bags of onions, etc.. in grocery stores. Clean out mesh each spring & each fall.

You want to get below the frost-line, otherwise
you can have troubles.
Depth depends on where you live.
